Who We
Are |
Cricket
Feet Casting is a company run by Bonnie
Gillespie, indie casting director,
Television Academy member, and author of Self-Management
for
Actors. Director Matt Chaffee
co-founded and served as the artistic director for
the Subtle Bliss Theatre Company in Hollywood for
eight years. During his tenure, he oversaw 23
productions, including his own personal
venture--the award-winning Fluffy Bunnies in a
Field of Daisies--which closed as the
longest running comedy in Los Angeles history to
date and won Best of Festival honors at the New
York Fringe Festival. |

Why We're Doing This
|
Showcases
are
an interesting blend of performance and marketing.
When done right, the experience is exciting for
the actors and inspiring for the industry
professionals in attendance. Casting directors,
agents, managers, showrunners, directors, and
producers want to know they're coming to see
talented actors performing funny material that is
perfectly-suited for each actor's primary casting
brand. They'll take away actors' finely-tuned
marketing materials after enjoying a post-showcase
reception with colleagues (and actors, who have
been prepped for creating the most professional
schmoozefest possible). And all of this will
happen without actors having to go broke chasing
CD workshops and so-called rep showcases that are
just the same half-dozen people collecting a check
to show up. |

What We'll Need From You |
If
you're hoping to get an audition for our next
showcase, look for our call for submissions linked
from this site, when the breakdown goes live.
We're always looking for comedic actors with
excellent timing, experience with improvisation
and sketch comedy, and are especially interested
in performers with original material. Priority
consideration for audition slots is given to
actors who have previously been cast through Cricket
Feet Casting.
If you are scheduled for an audition, you will
need to prepare a short comedic scene (bring your
own scene partner, who may either also audition
for us or just be there to help you out) and
arrive with two headshots/resumés ready for
us to review. You'll do your scene for Bonnie
Gillespie (casting director and producer) and Matt
Chaffee (director). We'll watch your work, discuss
the schedule, and get to know you a bit before
sending you on your way. (Looking for tips for
your best possible showcase audition? Click here.)
After selections are made, we'll head into our
rehearsal and meeting period. Don't worry; we're
not going to put you through some ridiculously
tedious mandatory rehearsal schedule. We're
working hard on prescreening to be sure we cast
the most professional, prepared, ready-to-book
actors in town, and that means we trust that you
will be working on your scene on your own time
once we've agreed on scene selection (for which
your primary casting type and industry goals will
be assessed).
In addition to working independently and with our
director on your showcase scene, you will be
guided through the process of creating the best
presentation of your materials for the industry
kit and maximizing your marketability through
showcasing. Our showcase experience includes Self-Management for
Actors master class action. Because of
this attention to detail in actor screening, scene
selection, and marketing materials, industry
attendees will have a very positive experience and
will happily rate your performance. Why is that
important? Well, the actors who receive the most
positive reviews from industry after the showcase
will receive prizes from our sponsors.
Cool, eh? |
